Kuddle Time Childcare

Pasadena , Md. 21122

(410) 360-9079

I am pleased that you have chosen, or are interested in, this program for your childcare needs. I have a great responsibility for the health, safety, care and instruction of your child. You, of course are the primary focus for your child; but for during the day and for many hours, I am the support to whom they come, look to and depend upon. I take this role very seriously, both as a professional in childcare and as a way of life .I provide quality childcare in a loving home environment for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. At Kuddle Time Childcare your children are allowed to be children, have endless discoveries, enjoy lots of fun play, I will even assist and encourage each child’s abilities and skills throughout every stage of their development. Your child will have a safe, clean, healthy place to grow and learn. As children learn through play I try to provide many opportunities for them to "discover" things about the world they live in.

Children are really very bright and need to be treated as special little individuals with much to share and as each child brings a new and exciting personality to my daycare I will try to help nurture it with socialization skills, guide them in areas where they may need guidance and teach them everything that they are able to learn during the time they are in my care.

It is important that we are in agreement concerning the following sections in this parent handbook and all my policies and procedures in this handbook are100% understood with no concerns or questions left unanswered. So please read thru it and feel free to communicate with me any concerns that you are uncomfortable with or do not understand. This handbook was put together to prevent conflict and ensure resolutions, it will familiarize you with the policies and procedures, daily routines, and educational activities of Kuddle Time Childcare program so please don’t skip any parts of this handbook and be sure that you understand all areas, and don’t hesitate to ask any questions about any material that you may find to be unclear as I would rather answer your questions then have one of us become upset with the other or have a terminated contract because you didn’t understand something that I could have answered for you or resolved for you without despair.

Arrival and Departure

  • All children must be brought into Kuddle Time Childcare by an adult each day.
  • No drop off and drive on will be permitted.
  • All children will be released to authorized adults that are located on your child's emergency card only, if you wish to have someone other then a person on your child's emergency card then I will need to know in advance as well as have it in writing.
  • IF IM UNFAMILIAR WITH AN AUTHORIZED PERSON PICKING UP YOUR CHILD I DO REQUIRE PHOTO ID (I MAY COPY THE ID FOR YOUR CHILD’S SAFETY AND PUT IT IN YOU CHILD'S FILE, IF I'M UNABLE TO COPY THE ID I WILL WRITE VALID INFORMATION IN YOUR CHILDS FILE)
  • Please understand this is not to make your life difficult but to ensure the safety of your child in care.

Early Departure

If you have more then one child registered in care and you need to pick one of them up for any reason then you will be required to take all children that are registered in Kuddle Time Childcare  with you. I'm sorry if this is an inconvenience but it is required because once your child has seen you they will most likely become upset and disruptive for the remaining time in care and or be disruptive to the property of Kuddle Time Childcare.

Visitation

I would love to welcome visits at anytime from parents and grandparents however if you visit your child at any time during the day then you will be required to take your child with you if they become upset when you go to leave or after they realized that your gone you may be required to pick them up if they can not be calmed down.

Anyone picking up or leaving with a child from visitation will need to be approved by a parent guardian. Please see Arrival and Departure for more information.

Changes

Families frequently have changes - new homes, new jobs, and new telephone numbers so please keep me informed and up to date with accurate information as it could be critical in the event of an emergency. You are required to inform me if you are at any other location than what is listed on your Enrollment Form and to provide a telephone number for that place as well as a cell phone number if you have one. If you are going to be home for the day and not at work then I will also need to know that so I can call you at home instead of work.

Child Abuse/Neglect

I'm required by law to call Child Protective Services or the local law enforcement if it appears that your child has been neglected or abused in any form including drinking and driving with your children will be reported to the local law enforcement (police station). So don't try to pick them up if you have been drinking.

Children With Disabilities

If your child has special needs I will do the best that I can so that your child will feel comfortable in every activity or games being played at Kuddle Time Childcare However if needs of your child and the other children in my care are not being met I will ask you to relocate your child to a childcare that is better equipped and trained to handle their disability.

Children’s Absences

Please inform me as soon as possible if your child will be absent or late as this will allow me to prepare snacks and activities for all the children appropriately, however if you are not at my childcare facility by your contracted time or have not stated that you will be arriving later then your normal time then I may not be here to care for your children as we may have decided to have a play date or go on an outing that day so this could mean that you would not have childcare that day and plans have been made for the children that are in my care. Also there would be no refunds or adjustments made to your childcare fee for your time missed do to any of the following: illness, holidays, vacation or days off etc. as your space is reserved for your child and cannot be filled on a short-term basis you will be required to pay the amount agreed to in your contract and no less.

2009 H1N1 Flu

What is 2009 H1N1 (swine flu)?
2009 H1N1 (sometimes called “swine flu”) is a new influenza virus causing illness in people. This new virus was first detected in people in the United States in April 2009. This virus is spreading from person-to-person worldwide, probably in much the same way that regular seasonal influenza viruses spread. On June 11, 2009, the World Health Organization External Web Site Icon (WHO) signaled that a pandemic of 2009 H1N1 flu was underway.

In The Event Your Child Becomes Infested With Head Lice

They will be sent home from childcare and your child will be inspected for lice and nits by Kuddle Time Childcare and if your child has any they will not be readmitted into Kuddle Time Childcare until they have been checked again and are free of all nits and Lice. Your brush, combs, hair bows, hair ties, house, car, car seats, Bedding and pillows, stuffed toys, dolls, jackets, furniture must also have been cleaned with temp. of 175 degrees or higher and or specified lice killing chemicals and you will need to vacuum your entire house to get rid of any Lice or nits on the floor, beds furniture etc. (Throw out your vacuum bag) otherwise the lice will become re-infested in your child's head or your families head and can become very hard to eliminate. This process could take months if you only miss one lice or nit. Lice killing shampoo states it kills nits but it does not so vacuum and spray your house and follow the steps below to eliminate these unwanted guests.

Your child will also be rechecked for lice and nits for up to 8 weeks after to be sure that re-infestation has not occurred and all children will be subject to random head lice inspections when in care at Kuddle Time Childcare.

Infestation Directions

(Parents take full responsibility for treating hair)

If your child has been sent home with Head Lice you will need to clean your entire families hair with lice killing shampoo (RID or NIX) then you must follow the following Steps 2-7 in order to get rid of the lice and nits.

  1. Your brush, combs, hair bows, hair ties, house, car, car seats, Bedding and pillows, stuffed toys, dolls, jackets, furniture must also have been cleaned with temp. of 175 degrees or higher and or specified lice killing chemicals and you will need to vacuum your entire house to get rid of any Lice or nits on the floor beds furniture etc. (Throw out your vacuum bag) If you can't clean it bag it for 3 weeks.
  2. Put Mayonnaise onto your dry hair until very thick for no less then 8 hours and then cover with a shower cap.
  3. Wash Mayonnaise out of hair with white vinegar for 20 minutes to unglue the nits from hair.
  4. Mix 2 tablespoons tea tree oil (Sold at CVS), 6 ounces Dawn dishwashing liquid (Dawn ONLY) into a bottle then shake very well, Rub  mixture onto hair for and leave sit for 20 minutes then rinse out until all soap is out of hair.
  5. You will then need to then use a metal RID comb to comb out lice and nits. Go through about 10 strands of hair at a time to eliminate the nits and lice. If you miss one you will get a re-infestation. (Plastic combs don't work on small nits)
  6. Last step you must use the TTOD Mix everyday for 2 weeks: Mix 2 tablespoons tea tree oil (Sold at CVS), 6 ounces Dawn dishwashing liquid (Dawn ONLY) into a bottle then shake very well, Rub  mixture onto hair for and leave sit for 20 minutes then rinse out until all soap is out of hair.

 Facts About Lice

  • Nits (the eggs of the head louse) are small yellowish-white, oval-shaped eggs that are "to the side of a hair shaft glued" at an angle.
  • Nits must be laid by live lice. You cannot "catch nits."
  • Once laid, it takes 7-10 days for a nit to hatch, and another 7-10 days for the female to mature and begin laying her own eggs.
  • Head lice are clear in color when hatched, and then quickly develop a reddish-brown color after feeding.
  • Head lice are about the size of sesame seeds.
  • Head lice have six legs equipped with claws to grasp the hair.
  • Head lice are crawling insects. They cannot hop, jump, or fly.
  • Pets do not carry human head lice.
  • Head lice need human blood in order to survive.
  • Head lice live for approximately 30 days on a host and a female louse may lay up to 100 nits (eggs).
  • Head lice cannot live when no longer on a human host. In most cases, a head louse will not survive for more than 24 hours.
  • They do not spread disease.
  • Anyone can get head lice.

Diligence is the key to dealing with head lice. Don’t assume that something you’ve done has worked. Follow through for to ensure you actually killed all lice and removed all nits. Anything less may result in on-going occurrences.

Summer Fee

Water Charge is $5.00 per summer month (June, July & August $15.00 total summer)

Why do I pay this fee?

  • Because all children love to have outdoor play and when the weather is warm or hot outside we will still be going out to play daily and we will use Hose Water, Water Sprinkler, Water Table, and squirt bottles filled with water so to help keep the cost down and still be able to have water fun days when the weather is nice and still keep your normal tuition rates the same all year at ACW I will charge $5.00 per month/$15.00 per summer to help with the water bill.

Can you pay it all at once?

  • You will need to pay your summer water charge all at the same time and it must be paid by May 30th.
  • Total due would be $15.00 and no other water charge will be charged to you for the summer.

Emergency Preparedness

Kuddle Time Childcare philosophy is to keep children safe at all times when he/she is in our care. With recent world and local events, we have developed an emergency plan that will be put into place in the event that special circumstances require a different type of care. Plans for these special types of care are reviewed annually. Kuddle Time Childcare is trained in the appropriate response and local emergency management is aware of these plans. The specific type of emergency will guide where and what special care will be provided.

·         Shelter at site-This plan would be put into place in the event of weather emergency or unsafe outside conditions or threats. In this plan, children will be cared for indoors at Kuddle Time Childcare and may be secured or locked down to restrict entry.  Parents will be notified if they need to pick up their child before regular time.

·         Evacuation to another site-This plan would be put into place in the event that is unsafe for children to remain in the facility. In this situation, Kuddle Time Childcare has predetermined alternate sites for care. The choice for this site is determined by the type of emergency.

·          Method to contact parents-In the event of an emergency; Parents will be called as soon as possible. Children will be transported by walking, van, cars or what ever way has the best outcome for survival.

·         Emergency ends/reuniting with children-When emergency ends, parents will be informed and reunited with their children as soon as possible. The contact methods listed above will be used to inform parents.

The purpose for sharing this information with you is not to cause you to worry, but to reassure you that we are prepared to handle all types of emergencies in a way that will ensure safety of your child (ren). In the event of an actual emergency, please do not call the facility-it will be important to keep the lines open. If you have any questions regarding this information, talk with the facility director or your child's teacher.
